
Here's to Neil Armstrong, a hero not just for America, but for humanity. The next person to walk on the moon will no doubt be Chinese, but no matter; even though space travel was born in the Cold War, there's a definite "one world" quality to achievements of such magnitude. I'm still holding out hope that there will be bootprints on Mars within our lifetimes.
For anyone interested in the moon, here's a blog post I did a while back on the concern--not as crazy as it sounds!--that returning Apollo astronauts might infect the earth with lunar microbes.
