FQxI's Natalia Ares and Simon Benjamin, both quantum physicists at the University of Oxford, UK, have been featured on the BBC. In a new article, they talk about the development and uses of quantum computers, machines that could one day outperform conventional computers at certain tasks, by harnessing quantum physics.

Speaking to the BBC, Benjamin said: "We hope for a golden age of discovery once these machines are online." While Ares described the challenges of building such machines: "Now, you'll have to control this entire circuit with many, many gates and many configurations that are possible. How you do that is a very difficult engineering problem."

Natalia Ares spoke to Geoff Marsh about some of her other quantum experiments, to turn information into fuel, on the FQxI podcast.
