October 21, 2024
by Foundational Questions Institute, FQxI

The Big Bang theory tells the story of the beginning of the Universe, our cosmic home for the last 13.8 billion years. But how does the story end? Astrophysicist and FQxI member Katie Mack will be giving a public talk at the Perimeter Institute, Waterloo, Ontario on 6th November, 2024. She will share what modern astrophysics tells us about the ultimate fate of the cosmos, and what the catastrophic destruction of all reality would look like to anyone still around to see it.

Registration to attend this in-person event will be available on Monday, October 21 at 9:00 AM EDT. Tickets for this event are 100% free and can be booked here. The talk will also be available on PI's YouTube channel after the event.

Mack spoke to Zeeya Merali about her work on the topic of entropy, quantum thermodynamics and the nature of time, for the FQxI podcast. Her book The End of Everything (Astrophysically Speaking) is available to buy from the FQxI Bookstore. FQxI will receive a donation if a purchase is made through this link.
