How Quantum is Life?

Abstract. Two points are engaged in this essay. One is that currently accepted physics theories contain obvious defects indicating that the state of the art is most probably insufficient to permit anything but tentative speculations on the truly fundamental questions; and two: At the current stage there is very little empirical evidence that random chance is inadequate to explain evolution or free will. Arguments for putative teleological agents are supported more by cultural environments than either empirical examination or logical reasoning. The future remains open, however!
