Abstract

Something like a symmetry inferred from a reconsideration of the notions of the mathematical vacuum (the continuum) and of symmetry itself (the indistinguishability of a system before and after a transformation) is suggested in this essay. This symmetry, denominated 'basal', refers to a way to possibly understand the continuum as a 'quantized' entity. It is tried here to relate these considerations to results gained from astrophysical observation with a testable prediction being stated, eventually.
