Abstract

In the “Trialogue on the number of fundamental constants” [1], Michael J. Duff, Lev B. Okun and Gabriele Veneziano debated the number of fundamental dimensioned constants in physics. L Okun maintained that 3 basic units were required and offered M=mass, T=time, L=length. In this essay I suggest MTP where P is the sqrt of momentum as from these 3 units we may derive and solve as simple geometrical shapes formulas for G, h, c, e, me, kB, μ0… to a precision limited only by the precision of the fine structure constant alpha. Results are consistent with CODATA 2010. I then demonstrate how we may assign M=1, T=2pi, P=Ώ, Ώ^2 = π^e/e^(e-1) [2], and use these values to solve the same electron frequency formula fe. This is rationalized by the premise that the numerical value for fe = .4184896589…e-22 is independent of the set of MTP units used and thus may be used to verify the validity of any chosen set of MTP.
